Wyong Preschool has a strong focus on the natural environment and sustainability.
Wyong Preschool has a mission to increase environmental awareness and responsible ecological practices within our preschool community. Environmental sustainability is embedded into our everyday practices with all staff, children and their families actively involved. The children have become our eco-warriors with their passion for recycling, caring for our worm farm, composting food scraps and gardening. We also have a chicken coop so that our food scraps can feed our chickens and the children have the opportunity to care for them and collect their eggs.
We have two water tanks, dual flush toilets, water saving taps installed in all children’s bathrooms and our hot water is supplied through our solar powered system on our roof. Our energy usage is minimised through our solar panel system on our roof. Our staffroom also has a Bakashi bin to recycle all our food scraps.
Wyong Preschool embraces our traditional land owners beliefs and practices in maintaining our environment and being proud of the Darkinjung land in which our preschool stands.

We engage with nature and our local community through regular walkabout excursions to local parklands and within our local community. We also have regular visitors to our preschool sharing their culture, musical talents and expertise through our incursion program.

Our outdoor learning program also now includes our open campfire.
